Is solar energy worth the investment?

• number of solar panels, tubes or tiles installed; around five square meters of coverage is recommended for maximum exposure, with a smaller area bringing a proportionate return

• direction your roof – or wall – faces; if east to west through south, it will receive sunlight for most of the day: any area with an aspect within 90 degrees of south is ideal

• angle of the slope to which your panels are mounted; a rake of 30 to 45 degrees is considered optimum

• amount of shade near your panels; the less the better, as they will be able to absorb more solar radiation.
